Pool Storage Hacks

Here are some great pool storage hacks that will keep your poolside, deck, and backyard free from the clutter that accumulates over time with all of your pool supplies and toys.

1. Get a Pool House

Get your own pool house in time for summer with no down payment and low monthly payments – Image Source: Classic Buildings

A pool house or shed is a must to store all of your pool supplies when they aren’t in use and will also mean less traffic in and out of your house as everything needed for the pool can be kept in your shed. It will also give you a place to keep other seasonal items over the winter months! If you choose a model like the one pictured above from Classic Buildings, you will also have plenty of extra space for your family and guests to change out of their wet things. That’s more good news for your home!

Classic Buildings can also customize your pool shed to match your home. They can also include amenities like extra shelving for storage and an electrical package for nighttime swimming or plugging in an extra fridge.

If you don’t have the extra cash to purchase a beautiful storage shed like this one, check out this great rent-to-own program. You can enjoy a pool house like this with no down payment and low monthly payments. It can also be professionally delivered poolside to you at no extra charge. Learn how here.

Here’s a great DIY project from OneCrazyHouse. It simple and cheap. Get an old pallet (often you can pick up an old one for free outside of a warehouse). Paint it a fun summer colour and attach some decorative hooks for hanging up your wet towels. Put it on wooden legs or screw it right to your fence. It’s the perfect size for sliding your pool noodles in and out. The handy towel hooks will let your towels dry off while you are in the pool, meaning less laundry for you as your kids won’t need to constantly be getting more dry towels!

If you hate deflating and inflating your pool floats, here’s a great idea from AddictDecor to store them when you are not using them. Connect PVC pipe together to form a handy and lightweight storage rack for all of your oversized and awkward pool things. This great rack will keep them all in one easy-to-find location instead of blowing around your backyard all summer long and they will dry off better so you won’t get any mildew forming.

5. Towel Tree

Wet towels are always an issue around your pool. They usually end up taking up space hanging on your pool furniture to dry. You can easily solve this problem with a towel tree. The one pictured above was made by Kim Battes’ husband from PVC pipe, but if you aren’t a DIY kind of person, you can simply purchase a coat rack to use instead.

If you have an above ground pool, here is a wonderful pool storage hack that even the most novice do-it-yourselfer can do. In addition, it won’t break the bank. You only need 3 plastic laundry baskets and some heavy-duty glue. Cut the bottoms off of two of the baskets with a utility knife and glue them on top of each other as shown in the picture above. This simple and inexpensive idea comes from Lingoistica.

8. Pool Equipment Storage

It’s important to keep your hoses in good condition so that they don’t get damaged or become a tripping hazard. Here’s a simple and cheap pool storage hack from Pistoncars.com to keep them tidy throughout the pool season. Simply attach heavy-duty hooks to the side of your wooden fence and use some chains to tie them up. Chains work well as you can adjust the length needed to wrap around your rolled up hose. Criss-crossing bungee cords on hooks on your fence will give you a spot to safely store larger pool equipment. Once the colder weather arrives, you can use this same idea on the inside walls of your wooden pool storage shed or garage.
